Gaming CPU build $1000

Amanaman83

My friend wants to build a computer with a thousand doller budget. There is a lot more room in the budget with the 8350, but how much better is the 4960k for gaming/general use?

4960K will crush 8350 in any case .

CPU: i7 4790K | Ram:Corsair Vengeance 8GB | GPU: Asus R9 270 | Cooling :Corsair H100i | Storage : Intel SSD, Seagate HDDs | PSU : Corsair VS 550 | Case: CM HAF Advanced.

For those uses: 4690k, its much better for gaming.

If your friend was running VM's and other server applications I would have recommended the FX.

VMs are running better on 4690k then FX8350 this idea is long gone after DC CPU release that FX8xxx series is better for VMs then i5 platform

CPU: i7 4790K | Ram:Corsair Vengeance 8GB | GPU: Asus R9 270 | Cooling :Corsair H100i | Storage : Intel SSD, Seagate HDDs | PSU : Corsair VS 550 | Case: CM HAF Advanced.

If you are just gaming get the i5. If you are doing productivity like video editing as well get the 8350. Also if you sre getting the i5 use the rest of the money on a better gpu

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?
