I spend a few google searchs and a bit of looking through the webpage but I really wasnt 100% sure what was the correct and best way to know if a motherboard can OC my cpu. I have an i5 4690k (3.5 ghz) cpu and i want a mobo that isnt to far over 100 US that will be easy to OC my cpu, I also have a nice liquid cooler I could pull up the specs for if intrested

with haswell most of the voltage regulation for the CPU is done through FIVR (fully integrated voltage regulation) onboard the chip itself therefore you are not needed to have an expensive motherboard with lots of power phases to reach maximum overclocks...you'll most likely be limited by the quality of the chip you get (AKA silicon lotery) than by anything else mate.

You can defenetly look at the cheapest Z97 motherboards available to you that have the features you need and pick the one you feel the most confident about...the Z97 anniversary from Asrock and Z97 PRO 3 and PRO 4 are good boards...and so is the MSI Z97 PC mate...all good entry level z97 boards.

Any Z97 board should do for everyday overclocking. If you wanna do extreme overclocking pushing voltages to levels that would cause chip to degrade (like 1.4V for example) then you'll want a beefier motherboard.

Intel i5-4690K @ 3.8GHz || Gigabyte Z97X-SLI || 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz || Asus GTX 760 2GB @ 1150 / 6400 || 128GB A-Data SX900 + 1TB Toshiba 7200RPM || Corsair RM650 || Fractal 3500W
