My sixth form college has offered students a free subscription to Office 365 ProPlus. This will last till July-ish. I'm contemplating whether it is worth getting because the other option is getting google office. The thing is I will probably have to start paying for 365 after college whereas google office will remain free. I don't think it is worth my time to get used to 365 and then have to move to google. So, I want to ask, do I go for 365 permanently or google office permanently.

PS currently I am using Office 2011 with some google apps eg google drive

365 seriously is great. It does so much more than google's office suite.

I would suggest using 365.

However googles services are free and If they do everything you need them to do then there is no reason not to use Google's solution.

Office 365. You have OneNote, the ultimate note taking software I found as a student, especially if you have a device with digitize pen support, but still great with a keyboard. Easy to use, but nicely powerful if you know how to take full advantage of it.

OneDrive that you get with Office 365 (1TB), allows you to view and edit documents directly online, and share with others. The document editor is great, and formatting is not screwed up, like Google Drive will do, especially if you make things that looks fancy in Word. Not to mention, that it wont' break new documents when new Office will come out.

PowerPoint if very powerful, and now (well since Office 2010) GPU accelerated, with wide screen support. If you know how to do power point presentations (ie: not copy and paste your notes, but rather compliment your explanations) it is very useful (and yes, Intel integrated graphics is supported, since many years now, so even if you use the crappy school computers, it will play fine). In addition, if you plug your laptop/Windows tablet onto your school podium (if you can), when you do a presentation from your laptop, it will do a dual screen with the projector automatically. You will have your notes and preview of your next slide on the laptop screen, and the projector will show the current slide.

Like so:

This allows helps you do a better presentation, and know what is coming and not need to check or remember the slide order, a problem if you have many slides.

Office suits of software have more options to create what you trying to do, and is more powerful than Google drive, and I find easier to use.

Actually, you get unlimited storage now. It was just 1 tb but now is unlimited.

There is a file and folders limit of about 20,000 I believe for home use that is fine, for a business with multiple users then it is a problem, there is a also a character limit on the file name and file path of about 200 and before somebody says that is more enough I have seen it happen in a business environment, should be fine for home use, but just worth noting

Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.2Ghz | Evga GTX 780 Ti SC ACX with backplate | MSI Gaming 9 AC | 8GB (2x4) Corsair Vengeance Pro Silver 2400 MHz | Corsair H105 128GB Crucial MX100 | Toshiba 2TB | Evga 750G2 | Corsair Obsidian 750d | Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 PWM (3x140mm & 3x120mm)

Well, this is for home use. Idk about all of those things but this isn't OneDrive for business. There is services strictly for business side.
