Graphics card fan doesn't start

I have an ATI Radeon 5770 which has an odd problem.

When I boot the PC, sometimes the fan starts, other times it does not. If it doesn't start I just give it a push with my finger and after that it works fine.

Without having to buy an aftermarket cooler, is there a way to solve the problem? I'd rather not spend any money on an old card.

If it matters, I never overclocked it. Latest drivers and default firmware.

On a more serious note: Fan probably has some dust stuck inside of it that's why you need to give it a push

Sounds like the fan is on its way out. I don't think there is much to do besides replacing the cooler.

You can disassemble the gpu cooler and remove the dust from the fan as previously said, or maybe apply some oil to the bearing.

I've had the same problem with my msi gtx7600 a while back. I lubed the fan and it kept working for like a year more and then I changed cards.
