Hello,

I bought a new system yesterday, I couldn’t let my university machines out perform my home computer. Being a student I am not quite wealthy enough to go the whole hog in one sitting, So I wonder if you guys could recommend one Item a month up until the summer to get a really solid base system. after the summer I will be looking to get a 4k/5k monitor and I hope gpu's can drive the crazy resolutions in a fairly environmental manner by then.

I don't believe in optical drives so I won't need one of those.

I am currently running Linux as I can't be bothered with installing windows until I have a good enough amount of storage.

here is what I am running.

i7 4790k

a good ATX z97 mobo

A 660 gpu

a samsung ssd 120

and a power supply which might be a tad small.

Do you have an aftermarket CPU cooler? Does your mobo support SLI/Crossfire? What is your brand and model of PSU? Also come summer the only cards that will be available that we can realistically assume will be on the market will be AMD's top GPU, and also perhaps the GTX 980ti or Titan 2 or whatever they call it. If you want a decent gaming experience come summer you'll probably want to get a 1440p 120hz/144hz monitor with either Free-sync or G-sync, which would mean either going with AMD or Nvidia. To power that you could get away with a pair of GTX 970s or a pair of R9 290s, or the equivalent of the R9 39x series. Also grab yourself a nice HDD, or a larger SSD.
