The chances are VERY very small that it will break. Just don't throw it and you'll be fine

and if you're just starting out, probably not. Better to just use the stock cooler until you get more experience

Is a all-in-one water cooling like the Nzxt x61 safe?

Like can it break?

What are the chances of breaking?

Is it worth the risk?

Getting this type of cooling worth starting out first?

I use a corsair h100i, similar all in one cooler. I hear like 1% of all All in ones come broken.... Something crazy low for a %age. Mine came fine, and it has like a 5 year warranty and I know someone who had a broken one and it leaked on their parts. Corsair was very understanding and replaced his GPU and Cooler pretty fast.  You don't need to maintain them but eh, the only way I see mine breaking is if I damn near cut it with a pair of scissors. :D

1) It can but is unlikely too, unless you completely hash it.

2) Very low (see above)

3) Only you can decide

4) Mmm possibly if you are 'mechanicaly/technacily adept', but probably better sticking to air cooling for a first build, stock if 'normal' 3rd party cooler if OCing. Certainly don't go custom loop

Stock coolers, though a tad noisy and of less than optimal quality, are perfectly adequate to run on a non-overclocked processor.

Intel and AMD would have a lot more warranty claims if the supplied coolers were not adequate.

I didn't like it running at 90c+ on load for anything though even if that's within their max limits. Their "adequate" is inadequate for me.

Hmm well i want make sure that my cpu is not gonna melt on me lol

You can go with $20 solutions really like Arctic. The high end is for people who want to overclock or want really low temperatures in their cases. The only situation you would go watercooling, for you personally, is because you have the extra $ and want to play/experiment with something new. And that would be fine, but it's not the best $ to what-you-need ratio in my opinion.

hmmm ok then. i dont water cooling is really my thing so ill just stick with fan cooling. i think ill get a noctua fn-d15 cpu cooler. that should be fine right?

Tad overkill for non-OC, but your money etc.

Don't worry about how "dangerous" a pre-filled water cooler is.

In the end, you will want to overclock just for the extra performance and since its easy.

I know I was afraid at first but now I'm building my own custom loop.

blackshades on

If you can build a PC, then you can install one of these. X61 has a pretty good track record, from what I've heard. There isn't any risk really if you follow the instructions on how to install included in the kit. And for the love of all things technical, buy any cooler, water or air, just don't use the POS stock one that came with your cpu. Throw it...... far away....... and run over it with a car......... they are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!!

Hyper 212?

Disclaimer :-

I haven't used this cooler but many have and I see nothing but good things written about it

Noctua (NH?) ≈   £75     Hyper ≈ £26

Wouldn't £50 ( $75  ) be useful elsewhere?

Haha, I would advise against that. You can get something like the Freezer 7 or A11 here http://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Freezer-Pro-Rev-Multicompatible/dp/B002G392ZI/ and be perfectly fine while saving money. Also, some of those are only AMD or only Intel so read the description for them.

The NH-D15 is for overclocking or keeping the case very cool. It's also a pain to install and maintain/clean that's scratchy on your hands when installing on anything but the largest cases. The fan latches can also sometimes be too small, making them impossible to take off for cleaning. It's one of the flaws that most people won't have but does exist. For the money and hassle you're better off getting something small and cheap. The $20-$40 range is safe, lower tends to be bad, and higher will be more than your needs.
