I am thinking of getting 2 more 1080p monitors and running 3 screens (all 1080p) off my r9 270(non-x). Would it be enough? I most likely wouldn't run games off all three but have them all doing things at the same time. (youtube on one, game on the other .etc)

Gaming: not really

Other stuff: probably, multiple screens don't hit performance in games.

Unless you have like YouTube 4K/1080p60fps and Crysis 3 open. Your PC (I don't know which part, maybe CPU) will have a other time on the video, but not really in game.

Source: extensively using 2 screens on a VERY low end PC, while gaming.

If you only game on one the performance difference compared to now will be non-existant. If you plan to game in surround, I'd say that no, a 270x is not enough. Even at minimum settings gaming at that resolution on a 270 will be very hard. It lacks both the horsepower and the vram.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Do you think it would be better to sell the card and then buy something like a 960 or crossfire it with another?

Frankly, a 960 isn't enough either. You'd be effectively wasting your money by selling your card and getting one. Crossfire is a decent option, the problem is the vram however. 2gb are not enough. You can probably still pull it off if you keep resolution settings and AA to the absolute minimum. Alternatively, you can sell your card and get an asus R9 290 which is currently going for 240$ at newegg, if you live in the US. I can recommend the card because I own one :) you still won't max everything but you'll certainly be able to pull high settings and ultra textures.

Get a 290 and you'll be able to play games at decent settings at that resolution, 960 would be relatively horrible for 3x1080p.

Unless you're playing racing games/easy to run games (like LoL) you're probably going to have a bad time with anything under 290/970 maybe 280(x) for games that are a little more intensive but not on the levels of say SoM.

Don't get the 960 for that.

The 960 is just a tad bit better than the 270X, so yeah... Not worth it.

You should get a 290/290X/970 for resolutions like that.
