Is this CPU still good enough to tackle tommorows games and aplications or should I upgrade to the latest socket 1155 before haswell takes over?

You're probably good until Intel changes sockets again.  At least that's what I'm waiting for.

It's still a great CPU. I wouldn't spend the money to go to the 3570k, as it is not much of a performance increase. I would say you still have a few years until you really "need" to upgrade.

I think he means the next one... Since there won't be an architecture change, only a die shrink and haswell isn't that much more powerful than sandy or ivy, an upgrade would be pointless.

My brother has an old Kentsfield Q6600 which must getting on for 6 years old now and still runs everything fine.

 

Once I get a Core i7-2600K in my current system, I'm going to stick with Sandy Bridge for a damn long time, bloody excellent chip lol

I've build my brother a small pc with an intel i3 3225 + SSD still astonished how well it runs for everyday tasks and basic gaming (CS:S and CS:GO). And even with the stock cooler it runs at like 30c degrees at idle and super quiet.

Yea, the Core i3's I believe or a little underestimated, I have a 2120 and she's a little beast.

They are now basically what the first gen i5 where (2 core, 4 threads). My Laptop with an i5 520m feels alot slower then my brother's i3 3225.

I have my 2500k stock clock and still manages all of my games like a charm all I will need to do is probably upgrade my 560ti soon... hopefully if I have money -.-"
