I recently got an i5-4690k and an msi z97i ac motherboard and the i5 did not come with a cooler so this is my chance to get a better cooler than the stock.

I read that the Corsair 250D has a 140ish or lower height clearance.

I was planning to get on one of these three: Noctua NH-C14, Noctua NH-C12, or Noctua L-12

but it turns out that the motherboard that I got isn't compatible with any of the three because it will block the the PCI-e slot.

So now I don't know what to get. I would rather stick to air coolers than to water cool. My other choice is to trade my motherboard to a compatible one but then again, it would cost me (I bought the mobo second hand so it doesnt have a recipt or whatever to trade it in to a store), or I would have to find someone that is willing to trade and I already have. No luck.

What other great coolers are there that i should get?

NH-L12 would be the largest Noctua that you can fit without clearance issues. You'd have 2mm to spare with both fans installed.

Edit: The 250D has 95mm height clearance for CPU coolers.

Second Edit: Just noticed that you have the motherboard issues. I would almost suggest a 240mm AIO in your case :c

You could get a Enermax white Twister cooler or get one of the ETS-N30 AAA which is meant for form factor pc's

From what i am reading, it says the height is 160mm

and the other one is 134 with a 92mm fan. If i were to replace that fan, which fan would be a great fan

Is this a lie? http://home.comcast.net/~snmavronis/250d150mm.jpg

I read that it was 95mm and when i measured it, it was about 5 inches (12cm)

am not sure if you can replace the fan......only with special ones from enermax......but you I would go with the TAA it comes with some LED lights on the fan to spice up your computer a tad bit, the color is blue. I have it on my CPU its pretty quiet unless on MAX

Says 95mm on their tech spec. http://www.corsair.com/en/obsidian-series-250d-mini-itx-pc-case

And I mentioned in an edit above. Your best best might just be to get an AIO cooler. Spite how much I love Noctua :c

*pets own Noctuas*

Edit: I checked around some. And it seems that you're able to fit a NH-C14 in the case. However, you would have the same issues with the PCI-e slot :/
