Hello!

I own a R9 290x Lightning edition from MSI. I loved the card however really HATE one thing in it. The card downclocks during idle to 300 on core. Then bounces to 500 and 367 and on and on and on. I end up with a Afterburner chart that is dirty and not for my taste.

Is there a way I can increase the idle memory and idle clock speed?

Thanks!

Is a "dirty" graph really worse than wasting power and producing extra heat?

Im not sure why you even want to / need to do this. Its not like it is bad for your GPU or anything.

... Why would you want too? Their would be no gains in anything, but heat, and power consumption...

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Really?

YOu don't like the graph not being smooth so you want to waste power and heat to have it smooth?

Edit:

@CoolaxGaming

If you absolutely must: Disable ULPS in afterburner and it will no longer downclock when idle

I have a 1200 watt psu and dont give a crap about power consumption... Also dont give a crap about heat as my new loop should be ready in a month or 2

Why not run it at max clock then?

Am I the only one around here who really doesn't like pcpartpicker?
I also like Ubisoft and Origin/EA
Guess I'm just odd that way.

How do I do that?

Not sure about MSI Afterburner, sorry I never used that one, But I know in EVGA Precision you can enable KBOOST for full clock speed. (Highly doubt EVGA's overclocking tool will work with an AMD card)
