Hi guys, Its my first time posting here so I am not too sure where to put this.

I have an ACER V3-571G laptop that came with Win 8 OEM, I removed the 750 HDD (Backed up the OS first as a System Image) It had a lot of work that was important to me. I had kept the backup from Summer (2014-07-22) but now I want to restore the image and use win 8 easy transfer to put everything back on the my desktop but the laptop does not run win 8 anymore. so I installed 8 Enterprise Evaluation onto it but the OS will not recognise the image.

I assume that the ACER was running Win 8.0 CORE at the time, I back it up, removed the hdd to desktop and haven't been using the original image since. I own 8.1 Pro/ am using Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Some help on how to restore that specific image would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

So when you go to recovery in the control panel and select open system restore. It doesn't let you open your old system restore?

I would warn do not restore your system backup on different hardware.

I have selected system restore but its still not responding.

Also, I am trying to restore the image on the exact same hardware (Except the hard drive)

Ahh man. It is possible that the actual image is corrupt and the program can't read it.

It's also possible that there is a windows recovery software. It might be worth removing it from windows programs and features (Under the windows components section) the re-installing it through the add windows components part.
