I'm a PC gamer and haven't owned a console since PS2, which i had very few games for

My current laptop (which is my only PC) wasn't bought with gaming in mind, and therefore has sandybride mobile graphics and struggles to play most games

My budget right now doesn't allow me to buy a PC, and i won't be able to for at least 6-8 Months, probably more like a year

On the danish version of Ebay/Craigslist you can get an used Xbox 360 for 70-80$ with 4-6 games, which i can just afford, Some offers are 30-40$ for a console without games

The Ouya seems awesome, i can sideload most apps, i like the game selection and it generally seems like an awesome choice.

Also, i'm an Indie gamer.

Stuff I have I like: Moto G - Superlux HD681 Evo - Monoprice 9927

i think you should get one, consoles aren't as horrible as everyone says.

Yeah, they obviously can't be *that* horrible

Also, something i forgot to add to the OP is that i'm an Indie gamer mostly, and those games aren't the most popular for consoles

Also, i hear you can mod/hack 360's to play games you download off the interwebz?

Xbox is fun, also pick it up on the cheap because the console is about to be dead in a few months anyway.

What do you mean by "be dead"?

Games like AC Black flag will be released for it.

Also, will it be cheaper than the 70$ now in a couple of months you think?

OUYA might be an option, but costs 100£!

Well by dead I mean that its really not getting little to any new releases (though I may be surprised) and also the live will get shut down eventually just because microsoft will want people to buy xbox ones. On the matter of it being cheaper, thats a tuff call. I would say probably because people will be trading in their xbox to gamestop so they can get more money on the xbone pre-order.

Might be the case.

Also, now i'm considering the OUYA, it's an android device right? so my Humble Bundle with android Can be sideloaded onto it? Cuz that'd be awesome.

2e hand xbox 360 are never worth it due fact that might have had a red light of death and been recovered just to die again 1 month later.

That's something you encounter when buying any used electronic though be it a phone or computer part. If you buy it from a store and get warranty I don't see the harm.

I would go with the Xbox 360 if you want to play games. There are a lot of indie games for it if you are into that. The OUYA has been a big disappointment according to most people who have bought it.

Software updates has (from what I've heard) made it a lot better than before (when it barely worked) though. If you are OK with Android games on your TV, and don't want more then I guess the OUYA would suit you. It's kind of hard to recommend such a limited console with so weak hardware when you can get an Xbox 360 for less though.

The OUYA seems like the better choice as a HTPC though (support more video formats and can also play emulators).

My budget right now seems like Xbox is the most viable option, nowhere near enough for a 300£ gaming pc

What are good games for 360? I'm mostly playing RPG's and Platformers currently

Go with the Xbox, you have better options in games and with media app's, the only problem is the cost of going to xbox live gold to get the best out of the Xbox and Microsoft as said they will be supporting the Xbox 360 till at least 2017, so you got 3 + years of gaming there at least.

My recommendation would be to wait. With nothing finalized on the driver side for Ouya, we cannot really say how will it perform in real gaming scenarios. The xbox on the other hand is already a well established platform. My suggestion would be to watch the small review video ashens made recently on the Ouya. The Ouya does seem to lack in horsepower, but it does make it up in terms of cheap games and the flexibility of the Android OS on it.

If you are looking at graphics and multiplayer, then without a doubt go for the xbox. My only concern would be how long would it actually last and the cost of the games, which mind you are quite expensive.

Edit: Found this under member reviews. I suggest you read it and ask the OP any questions you may have! After all, whos better to answer such a question than an actual owner itself :P

Won't its performance depend on the users TV resolution?

Well yes, but even at 720p it might struggle with certain things. I would assume that it might be unusable at 1920x1080 for the higher end Android stuff (saw someone try Vice City on it and had to turn a lot of things down, and the rendering distance was very tiny in order to run somewhat smooth).

The Tegra 3 was really good when it was released, but we already got chips that runs circles around it easily. I am personally going to wait for the Tegra 4 version before getting an OUYA (unless I can get one for like 50 dollars second hand or something) and I will use it as a HTPC. Hopefully it won't take long for the OUYA 2 to be released.

If you're even remotely interested in indie games or emulators, definitely go for the Ouya.

Contrary to common belief, it is significantly more than just a mobile phone in console form. It's a unique take on what a console should be, and should play host to a lot of very interesting games. No, it won't be running Battlefield 4 at 4K with over 9000 fps - but it will be a platform where developers are free to experiment and innovate without paying an outrageous amount of money to Microsoft and or Sony.

It's already got a couple of interesting games being released, it'll be exciting to see what devs come up with given time. :D
