thin 480mm vs thick 360mm rad question

Chiobe
Go to solution Solved by Toddwjp,

Thermaltake Core X9, the 3rd one will be bottom mounted.

CPU+2x GPU, that will be overclocked.

so i take it its 2 top mounted, 1 in the bottom, in that case get the 480mm i mean the extra fan area will pay off more then thickness

I have 2 "EK-CoolStream RAD XTX 480 Radiator" ordered, but I want 3 in my setup.

Sadly the stores only had 2 available (guess shortage, also long waiting), so now I need another option.

So I have the choice between "EK-CoolStream PE 480 Radiator" and "EK-CoolStream RAD XTX 360 Radiator".

The PE 480 is 38mm thick, while the XTX 360 is 64mm thick.

So which would be the best option as my 3rd rad?

The front surface area has much bigger impact on the performance than the thickness... The 480 will perform better.

Does that mean that I could have gone with 3x PE 480 (38mm) instead of my current setup?

You could, but you are fine either way. Just saying that the thickness of the rad is not overly important.
