Sound Card & ModMic

Accursed Entity

Ok so the thing is I'm buying an ATH M40x next week and I'm currently using a Zalman Mic 1, not bad compared to some headsets in my opinion. But I'd like a good mic to go along with the ATH M40x, mostly for gaming, nothing fancy. Since the ModMic is not a USB mic, I'd like to know if it's necessary to spend more money on a sound card as well? Or I can go safely with those cheap USB sound cards just for the ModMic?

There's a lot of ambient noise in my room and I'd like to have the mic with the less white noise possible. I sit kinda far away from the keyboard and I'm not interested in those Blue Snowball kinda type of mics even though I know they're good, but I don't like them. Out of curiosity what would be the best sound card possible for less than $50?

Not really. It is a very sensitive microphone, and it easily picked  up a ton of EMI from my onboard audio.

It seems like a lot of people have the problem with the modmic 4.0 and onboard audio EMI.

I bought a $30 xonar DG and it instantly solved the problem. No more EMI.

Same here, although I picked up a cheap $3 USB sound card and it works like a charm.

It doesn't have a brand right? it's one of those from ebay? I'm looking at them right now as I'm ordering the ModMic.
