Unless you're going to be comparing them side by side in benchmarks, you won't notice a difference.

If I were to get an SSD for OS and another for games, would I be able to feel a difference compared to being on the same drive?

The only benefit of putting a game on an ssd is that load times are a bit shorter. Now considering the small fraction of time you spend loading anyway, putting games on an HDD vs. an ssd isn't nearly as big of a difference as putting windows on an ssd rather than an hdd.

Save the money and just get a 250gb ssd and a 1tb hdd and put that money towards something, which is actually worth the money.

on bigger open world games, like GTA 4 and all that, there is like a 30+ second difference in the loading, as well as in Battlefield 3/4. I always get like a 15-30 Second head start in those games.

My setup is a 256GB SSD with a 1TB HDD. the games I play the most are on the SSD, then the rest are just on the HDD, or the ones that wouldn't really benefit from being on an SSD, like CS:GO and all that I keep on my HDD.

In terms of the SSD Brand though, I have never had an issue with OCZ (I have the Vertex 4), ADATA (I have the SX900), Samsung( I use an 850 Pro and an 850 Evo), or Intel (730 Series). From what I gather though, Intel and Samsung are generally going to be recommended, especially if on sale at the time.

A Brand that I would stay away from, from personal experience is PNY. 2 Dead drives after 1 month of usage on each

Personally i'm using a 3TB WD Red for storage. 1TB 850 EVO for Games and a 250GB 850 PRO for OS.

Probably best way of getting max performance out of a build if it's a top end build.

However SSD's don't really make that much of a difference at a certain point. I'm just using mine for rendering etc so the extra little push from the new 850's help with rar'ing, unrar'ing and rending things to the ssd. So making life a little easier. Although a Crucial 250GB would perform around the same under normal working conditions. So it doesn't really matter if you're just using it for gaming.

You must have some pretty shitty (/dying) HDDs if your load times are that long when storing the game on an HDD.

Ohh yeah, i'm surprised its made it this long. it was an old 1TB external in its first life, then the interface board on that external died, so I just used the drive in my pc. its atleast 8 years old for that drive. I got it right around the time when 1TB drives were starting to be very popular.

I purposely only put Cloud Synced games on that drive, because I can always just re-download/install them lol
