New PC Build to replace old one.

_JohnB330ci

Hey there! 5 Months back I bought a Pre-built pc, it is shit, I've had countless problems with the GPU (R9 290X) and PSU which the builder did nothing about, anyway, I'm building a new system

with an Intel CPU etc blargh blargh blargh.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/sherifsdog22/saved/#savedbuild_1927193

That is the build, I chose an R9 290X Again however decided to go with the Vapor-X 8GB Model for 4k And I chose an overkill power supply for future upgrades, anyway, is this a good build for the price?

Don't go USE FUCKING NVIDIA GPU'S THEY'RE BETTER, because honestly, I couldn't care, I've used AMD forever an I'm not gonna change yet.

Yeah, Reference Sapphire R9 290X 4GB Model, and problem + problem = More problems with this card, but eh, I've heard only good about the Vapor-x

I'm afraid to say this but they'll benefit from CUDA Cores

Yeah, despite Linus' old video stating "AMD doesn't run like hair dryer etc etc", their reference card coolers are generally shit (obvs not the 295x2).  Especially this and the last gen; run quite hot; bloody loud fans to compliment the design.  Definitely get an aftermarket cooler vers.

4k gaming isn't REALLY there yet.  Even dual 980s.. 290Xs etc are.. well sufficient but they are not there yet.  But you'll definitely get.. alright performance with this machine, there's nothing that will get you that max settings AAA experience, but this will at least get above 4FPS in most games.

Yeah I know they do, but I game more, and an I7 4770K Can more than handle them for what I need, plus, my friend has a dedicated rendering machine I can use if I desire.

Great Build. Don't see anything that's needed to be changed. But I'd go with a slightly better AiO in such a great build. But that's just me  :P .

You do know that the Vapor-X 290X Is a power beast, watch Linus's video of the ultra wide screen gaming experience, he has 2 of these cards and they handle that res like a champ.

I'd go with this instead, GPU that will be usable in the programs you mentioned plus its a bit cheaper so you can throw that into a better CPU cooler if you choose to do so. Also it has an SSD and SSDs are all powerful.

Blue preferably, too match my peripherals, and I might do in the future depending on how well it handles the games I play stock clocked.

All in one liquid cooler.

Agh right, I would, but I'm really no confident in that area, and I don't trust myself to do it either

A good air cooler performs just as well if not better than the AiO (Corsair H55) even if the air cooler may cost a little more.

In addition I find the stock corsair AiO fans loud. I have a H100i and I swapped the stock fans with 2 x Noctua NF-F12 because the stock fans were really noisy.

if you are set on the H55 i recommend you swap out the stock fan with something a bit quieter (just make sure it is a pressure optimised fan tho).
