I'm looking to build a gaming PC with my tax returns. I live in NY, USA my max budget is $1,400 but I want to try to stay closer to $1,200.

Here's what I've got so far. Don't worry about the lack of storage capacity I just need enough for a boot drive.

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($126.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($104.03 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($344.00 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($119.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1196.96
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

A few concerns I have right away are; will that RAM fit under the Noctua NH-D15? Will the Noctua NH-D15 fit in the Define R5? Is my PSU large enough to handle a future SLI set up? Is that a good SSD for a boot drive?

Well, I selected MSI because, I really like the idea that one fan doesn't spin until under load. Is there a similarly silent 970?

The Asus Strix GTX 970 is the quietest 970 :)

Looks very good!

Considering the efficiency of the GTX 970, you could easily get away with a 650W or even 600W PSU and still have room for SLI, but that's just my two cents!

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.
