So I been thinking about getting myself a headset for a while now, and can get the steelseries Flux headset on a deal for about $40 for today only. Does anyone have experience with them and are they any good? It'll be mostly for some light gaming as I already have a sound bar connected to my pc for movies and music, but it's a bit difficult to figure out where the sound comes from in games. Any thoughts on them would be appreciated.

Hi there, I have owned the Steelseries Flux. It's got pretty decent sound for what you pay. However, they get very uncomfortable after short periods of wear. I would look for another option unless you are perfectly ok with on ear style headphones. I would stress looking for something that you can be comfortable with for hours at a time.

Filko Ninja TKL Cherry MX Black | Mionix Naos | Fiio e10k | Edifier S330D | Sennheiser HD558 | Blue Snowball | Asus PA238QR | Samsung BX2250

These are the type of headsets you'd use when you're out and using public transportation, 18 mm drivers; fair audio quality. could be a bit annoying and uncomfortable if you use them for long periods of time as they use cloth cushions not leather, mic quality is fair. if youre a light gamer, these are perfect.

ps: they are an open headset meaning sounds will go in and out of the ear cups.

Thanks for your input. I generally do have issues with on ears hurting after a while. But these days my gaming sessions are short, an hour or 2 at the most, and I am planning to get something else later down the line to match a colorscheme, after a few other purchases, so the real question is will it be good enough for a couple of months to at most a year probably for $30?

If I could remake my decision, I would have just skipped the flux and went for something more comfortable to begin with. I think there are some headsets that are not that much more expensive than the Flux and will also be more comfortable to use. Maybe look for the Steelseries Siberia v2 or HyperX Clouds on sale. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can chime in on those units.

I don't listen to music when I'm out and about, and only sometimes in my car, so it's really only for figuring out direction and the mic for voice comms in bf4 and WoW at the moment

I am looking at both the Siberia and cloud options later down the line, but the problem is they are both almost over $100, and the flux normal price is around $60, and with the deal today it's $30, and I'm pretty tight on cash as I have quite a few expenses

Remember that if you cut corners now you'll end up paying for it later and that people have different tolerance levels for when something becomes uncomfortable.

I see you're going by South African prices too. The Siberia here is in the $50 range and the HyperX Clouds are $80, so that's one of the discrepancies to take into account with suggestions. We don't know what things cost for you locally so we can't help you with your options as much as you'd like. Also be sure to check up on online reviews.

Agreed with MaxBunny's statement. The Flux may be the more economic option but you may end up regretting it even if you only use it for a few months. My suggestion is to go with a better option the first time around and save yourself some money by not having to buy something else down the road. Think of it as an investment. I paid $50 for the Flux and that is $50 I wasted when I could have purchased something better first. Safe to say, I wont' be using it again, and I don't think anyone will be willing to buy it used.

If you are absolutely sure you want the Flux, make sure to try it out first.
