Far Cry 4 Won't Start Up

KJoeShow

I just got Far Cry 4 as a birthday gift today downloaded it but I keep getting a black screen when it tries to load and it just stops responding. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has fixed it. From what I have found so far it looks like it has something to do with some API-MS-WIN.DLL file (Found from using Dependency Walker)

Thanks in advance.

What medium did you get it from? UbiStore, Disc or Steam? My Uplay-version of the game ran no problem straightaway. What are your computer specs as well, are you sure that isnt the limiting factor?

This was been popping up a bit aparently. The problem isn't with the listed file. aparently dependancy walker is having problems with newer OS (7 and 8) the file listed isn't the problem.

Restart your computer, it might not work but for some reason this happened constantly to me. I had to restart and it would fix. It was a d3d11 bug for me that only happened with FC4.

I have restarted my PC a few times hoping for the best but have yet to get past the black starting screen

Are you sure it's not an inability to work properly based on your computer's specs?

When I looked at the requirements before I think it was only my GPU that wasn't up to par with the requirements.

What is your GPU, if it's not up to par to a certain extent that may be the issue. Also are you running 64bit Windows 7, 8 or 8.1? I believe you need to.

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache on Steam if you're using Steam. There should be a repair option on uPlay aswell. So if you haven't done that try it. Also, make sure your AMD drivers are up to date. If problem persists you could try re-installing DirectX patch for Windows 7. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113/en-AU
