Build -Off Contest 59: AMD FX "The Final Fantasy"

dragoon20005
Go to solution Solved by NumLock21,

When we think about AMD, we mostly associated then with their GPUs, which is red. AMD was never red, it's always been green, ATi is red, not AMD. Because of that, for this build, I went with the NZXT H440 case in black/green, to show AMD's original color. Along with that there is, a 512GB SSD, two R9-290x in CrossFire X, and Asus 4K monitor.

An overall red themed powerhouse. Rationals;

- 8350 and 8370 provide no tangible benefit over the 8320 other than higher stock clock speeds. This can easily be changed using the Raijintek Triton as a quality watercooling heatsink to overclock to stock 8350 speeds. The newer 9XXX series FX processors again provide no benefit over the 8XXX series CPUs apart from being more expensive and hotter.

- Quality motherboard with good VRMs and VRM cooling which is ESSENTIAL for FX series processors, you can't just go with a $10 board for these CPUs.

- 16GB RAM, more than enough for gaming and good for video editing

- 512GB SSD, self explanatory, as well as the 2TB HDD. Both rated as being highly reliable and fast.

- 295x2, absolute power house and will rip 1440p apart.

- Enthoo Luxe is beautiful, power supply shroud etc etc. I have also included a Phanteks LED strip for which you can change the colour in a variety of colours.

- EVGA SuperNova PSU, based on the highly credited SuperFlower Leadex platform and 10 YEARS WARRANTY!

- Nice monitor and peripherals, self explanatory again.

- Cablemods cable set which will plug directly into the PSU to set off the inside of the case with a beautiful braided look.

i5 4670k - Z87X-UD3H - EVGA GTX 670 Sig 2 - Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 8GB Avexir Core White 1600Mhz - Corsair 750D w/ RGB LED Mod & Remote Control - 2x SP120 - 3x Enermax Cluster - 2TB Seagate SSHD - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 750W

The AMD FX9590 can be overclocked to about 5GHz or more, depending on the unit with the H100i.

16GB of RAM are sufficient for hardcore gamers and even suitable for video editing.

The 256GB SSD will serve as boot drive for windows and can house the most frequently used programs and games, while a

3TB WD Green is used to save the bulk of data.

The 3-Way Crossfire 290X with Windforce cooler will absolutely tear through every game at 144FPS for the Acer Monitor to use.

The 750D is a great case (as all cases from Corsair) which has enough room to house the triple graphics card solution as well as

the dual radiator of the H100i and has 3 fans preinstalled to blow air into the case, and with the 2 fans of the radiator configured to push air out

of the case the air pressure is slightly positive which results in less dust build up. (I'm sorry for that sentence, I'm german.)

The 1300W PSU will supply the graphics cards and the cpu with enough power, though there is barely any room for upgrades.

I chose the GN246HL because it was one of the cheaper 144Hz monitors I could find and also because

I got an Acer monitor myself (not the same model though) and never had any problems with it so far.

As keyboard I chose the G710 from Logitech, the one with the brown switches, because it is a personal favorite of me and I plan

on getting it myself soon.
