Okay I'm looking into GPUs for my new system I'm currently torn on who would have better build quality. Msi, Asus, Gigabyte, Evga, or Galax. I'm looking to go 980 or 970. I thinking I want to go single gpu so a 980 would come out to be better overall. Please gives give your opinions. I've never actually heard of galax maybe I'm just completely retarded. I owned a evga forever and it was a great card. My father owned a Asus 5770 that thing felt like you could hit it with a hammer and keep running.

If gigabyte, pick the g1. Sturdier with better quality than basic windforce, and yes it does make up for the small price increase.

Still new, but learning

As a 970 Asus Strix owner; I can attest to it's quality. I'll link below some photos I took of the card itself:

Galaxy re-branded to GALAX. They make good cards, but aren't on Nvidia's trusted partner board (doesn't matter).

Gigabyte is slightly better in function, benchmark and oc, asus close to it but slightly better in cooling. G1 for gigabyte also has metal backplate.

Asus is a little wider while gigabyte is longer, making it a bit harder to fit for some cases.

That being said, all the 970s are good. Zotac is also good for oc, from what I hear.

I also have a g1 from gigabyte and the build quality is great. It's a sturdy metal design and overclocks like mad. The G1 is the loudest of the bunch though so be warned, strix has a feature to turn off fans for complete silence when it's not heavily loaded, and well EVGA has just been one of if not the best companies around for warranties and customer service. I'm not too sure about galaxy, I haven't dealt with them or heard much about their versions as of late other than the hall of fame edition linus did a video on recently.

The G1 gaming isn't that noisy. I have one and it feels pretty strong and durable.

Mine doesn't oc too high: 1510, 8000 with stock voltage but stays well bellow 70°C and isn't noisy.

You can't hear the card at idle if you have case fans. And at load is pretty much the same as a Strix or MSI one...
