Hi guys, new to the forum and looking for some help overclocking my i5 4690k. When I increase the multiplier the base clock goes down, all values are fine in BIOS but not in CPU-Z and aida64.

As you can see in the picture the base clock went down to 95.18 when I increased the multiplier to x44 (don't mind the voltage, still messing around). Any clues?

That's not your base clock. That's your bus speed.

Well, the issue is that both Aida64 and CPU-Z gives me a core speed of 4.2 GHz when it should be up to 4.4GHz, and is according to BIOS but not in windows.

Reset your BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for a few seconds with power removed. See if that works. Also, what is your bus speed when your CPU is at stock speeds?

Look at this:

http://computer.howstuffworks.com/motherboard4.htm

Though I know in some BIOS'es, The core speed isn't really showing correctly on Windows, but it doesn't really matter.. Meh, atleast 1 or 2 Megahertz more wouldn't make a difference.

Cleared the CMOS, still getting low bus speed. And I don't think haswell is using the old north/south bridge architecture

I wouldn't worry about it that much. You'll just need to apply a higher multiplier to hit the intended frequency.

The CPU needs more voltage. And an aftermarket cooler. 91ºC is way too hot.

If it's running at 91c, adding voltage is going to make it worse.

Nah, not really. Well, maybe for newer chips, mine has been running like that for the last year (ever since I got GTX 780), this guy just doesn't feel like melting down.

Did you read what the OP wrote?

This is his cooler. http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/v8-gts/
