Over the last couple of days I've been having a few issues with my new PC. Everything is wired up correctly yet it just won't start. Yesterday it would just constantly keep restarting. Today my Dad was getti pretty pissed off and as a last resort he took the battery out and put it back in. Now the motherboard will stay on, yet it will keep flicking between BIOS' and won't display anything on the monitor.

Any ideas what could have happened?

Hey,

I'd pull the whole PC apart, motherboard on the box, reseat the CPU, just plug up the PSU and see if you can post.

Try and remove all other factors, shorting on the bottom of the motherboard, failed ram or gpu etc.

Do you have a post beep speaker or error code been displayed on the board ?

If you can get into the BIOS do a setting reset then start plugging kit back in, ram in the correct slots, (see manual) , then GPU and HDD and see if you can install the OS.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards

Ed

We've tried taking everything out and putting it back in again and it's made no difference.

The motherboard keeps switching from the two BIOS' as if it's looking for one that just isn't there? There aren't any beeps or error codes yet all the LEDs turn on and the CPU fan spins.

Hey,

A quick Google does see other users having a infinite boot loop.

A couple of possible resolutions was incompatible RAM (tried booting with no ram installed ? ) or enabling different boot options in the BIOS but if you are unable to get to the BIOS that does not sound possible.

I'd remove the CMOS battery again, unplug PSU from the wall and try and boot to remove any power in the caps. Plug it back up does it boot ?

Is there a physical button to switch between BIOS versions or is it a back up BIOS in case one gets corrupt etc ? If it isa  switch flip it a few times, may be an issue there.

Regards
