Getting a first mechanical keyboard, need some help!

So I finally got the money for a mechanical keyboard and I wanted some advice about what to get. I know this has been asked but I'm asking about something specific. Does anyone know about Max Keyboards? Because I want the Nighthawk X8 with MX Browns with orange backlight.

I just have to have orange backlights because it's my favorite color and matches my case, I know the Ducky Shine 2 has an orange option but there's no USB and audio hub and I think the logo on the space bar looks like crap.

So if anyone has any dealings with Max Keyboards please tell me before I buy!

Thanks All!

Edit: Also since all I've tried was a Razer Ultimate with Blues I think Browns will actually be my favorite anyways

I have a Das Keyboard, it rocks!

But Ducky or even Corsair's Vengeance mechanical keyboards are great!

If you want to build/design your own try out WASD Keyboards.

The keyboard itself depends on what you plan to do with it: if you're typing oriented go with blues or browns from CM, Razer, Filco or Ducky. If you're planning on gaming with it, go with Reds or Blacks from solid brands such as Filco or Ducky or CM.

Make sure you try the keyboards, its the best way to see which switches, chassis suits you and your needs ;)

I have a Ducky Year of the Dragon (similar to Ducky Shine II) and I absolutely love it. I'm running cherry MX Browns since I already have Blues on my BlackWidow Ultimate.

I wouldn't really recommend Razer though, unless you're only gaming.

As mentioned above, Filco / Ducky / Corsair / DasKeyboard / Noppoo are great mechanical keyboard brands with great quality builds.

I mean this place: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/

Not this: http://www.daskeyboard.com/

But thanks anyways, I think based on what I've read I'd like Browns but there's no way for me to try them.

Also I would get other brands but I ONLY want orange backlight and Ducky and MaxKeyboards seem to be the only ones that have it.

I have the Logitech G710+. It has brown switches and a white backlight, but also has a oragne/brown accent.

As far as I know it is the only mechanical keyboard from Logitech, but I think it also is a very good one.

I'm just going to get the Max Keyboards Nighthawk X8.

I was just hesitant about buying because I hadn't heard much about them on the forums here or ever mentioned by Slick.

Thanks guys anyways.

Yea, Max Keyboards aren't as common as other brands, but I've actually only heard good things about them. But again, this could be because they are not as common and so less complaints?

Either way, I'm sure they are quality boards and as long as you like it, it doesn't matter what others say. Also, browns are a good choice.. I find it hard to believe that someone would actually hate browns

  • 1 month later...

Well I know I'm reintroducing one of my old threads but just wanted to say I got the Nighthawk X8 a few days ago and so far I LOVE IT. Its absolutely amazing and I haven't gotten used to the typing yet but already better and gaming is such a treat with this thing.

Also thought I'd post some glamour shots I took with my S4's fancy camera.

This bottom one was taken about 20 sec after I unboxed it to send to a jealous friend.
