About the project

This build is my second custom built PC, first build log and first water-cooled build. The majority of the work begins in February because I am currently deployed. However, I have already purchased all of the components, paint and other extras and its all waiting for me at home. This rig is going to be the main rig, which will be used for gaming, streaming, light content creation, and whatever else I feel like doing at that time!

UPDATE: Due to back to back issues with the water setup, I sold all of it, upgraded and switch to the green team for first time all at once. Two GTX 980 TIs and a rare single tower cooler. The choose to use the Xigmatek Dark Knight II Night Hawk edition because of the performance, lightweight and matte black coating.

  • 1 month later...

Just got home a couple of days ago, already started the painting and wrapping process of the case. I apologize in advance for the picture quality, I shipped my DSLR from another country and it hasn't arrived yet, so its iPhone pictures for now.

Are you going to be using actual carbon fiber or just carbon fiber looking vinyl?

I hope you put enough to make it thick looking like the real epoxied stuff or it'll just look like clear coated vinyl.

edit : subbed though, looks interesting!

Put enough that you can buff it off after to get that mirror out of it or it'll look like orange peel. It'll look closer to the actual carbon fiber.

The silver parts look like cheap plastic from the pictures :P

Aside from that, I love the air 540, great case.

Very nice. I like cases that allow you to strip down individual parts.

Update! so I had to redo a couple of things but while that was going on the components arrived this morning... I have such a mess going on in here lol.

I tested all of the components and only ran into one issue. Each ram sticks works but I cannot get all 4 of them to post, I can get 3 oddly enough lol. I will tinker with that later.

Tonight, I will be assembling pretty much everything except some aesthetic stuff.

stay tuned :)

PS. Taking pictures with a different phone... my old iphone 4s wasn't cutting it.
