Hello,

I have started to try and learn Python 2.7.2 but I am not sure of the best place to try and learn it. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

~ Harry

As I said yesterday, go try out DiveIntoPython. It is hands-down the easiest way to learn.

I'm currently working my way through the course on codecademy, but I haven't really got too far through it, and can't really comment on much

Firstly why are you starting with the older specification? Secondly if you don't already know about it you might like to try PyCharm, is an excellent IDE by JetBrains built on their ReSharper technology.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

I heard there wasn't much of a difference,  so I just got the 2.7.2 one. Is their a difference? Should I go to the 3. one?

It seems impossible until it's done.

Well unless there's a very good reason for not doing so one should always keep as current as possible in this industry. As for the differences see here and here.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

This would depend on the reason that you are learning.

There is still a lot of companies that have 2.X code floating around and there are a few details that are different but if you get the concepts on 2.X then you can transfer to 3.X quite easy

If you're just picking up the syntax and basic rules, http://learnxinyminutes.com/ is really good. From there, come up with a simple project idea (a text-based calculator, perhaps), and apply the stuff you learned. Stackoverflow is an amazing resource, if you're having issues, and Google is a programmers best friend.
