hard drive issues

im not sure if this is the right sub forum but i thought it seemed appropriate

 

i think my hard drive might be failing but im not sure. what are some symptoms of a dying hard drive

if it helps its a western digital blue 1TB

What are you experiencing with the drive?

slow to open things, freezing, slow reading and wrighting 

the hard drive has gotten very hot in the past

Download hard drive sentinel, and see what it says. 
It checks via SMART on whats wrong and tells you how healthy it is.

Also, you might want to try defragmenting the drive, but that might take a good while.

Can you run a test using WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics tool and post what the results are? Just keep in mind to backup your data if you decide to go with extended test, because if during that the software detects any errors it will try to fix them automatically. You can download it from here:
