Can't really blame Google when they did patch out this vulnerability in 4.4 IIRC, but phone carriers simply refuse to send out updates for their phones. So phone carriers are throwing Android users under the bus.

Thank God that I can root and use a custom ROM for my phone. Currently running 5.0.2. and am loving it.

I would love to do that to mine.  :( Sony in their infinite wisdom decided that i am now allowed to unlock the bootloader on my own phone...  Needless to say, my next phone WILL NOT be a Sony phone.

Really? What phone do you have?

Xperia Z - On Three UK to be precise. They decided to prevent any bootloader unlocks, they've stopped doing it now due to a large amount of complaints. Older devices can't be changed to allow it though, it's hard-coded into the phone.. :(
