Temperature damage

I know the temps required to damage a GPU are pretty high, but I wanted to know if anyone thinks that higher idle temps for a long period could lead to damage.  My 7970 idles at almost 60 (using eyefinity so memory never downclocks).  I can use a custom fan profile to get idle temps around 45 but I'd rather keep it quiet.

I'd say as long as your within the safe thermal threshold for the gpu it'll be fine.

My MSI twinfrozer 7950 idles around 55-60

My Saphire 7970 boost edition idles around 27-31 and I live in Australia plus its overclocked with no water cooling... you guys must live in some hot places.

my 7950 idle 50-55 when using say netflix when memory clocks up

When I am using both my monitors my 7950 idles at 47C and when I only have my main monitor on it idles around 35C.

Permanent 60° shouldnt damage you card at all ;) How hot does it get on load?

Highest its ever got is 82. I know its not getting too hot I just don't really like that it stays so warm when not gaming.

i have 33c idle with an ambient of 28c on my Direct CU2

load is 70c using furmark

fans only hit 44% to keep it at 70c
