Almost no difference?

Hello, i have have been hammering on fx cpu's vs i5's pretty much since i have Bin here because almost every test sais that the i5 and i7 are much better but look at this one.

With low end gpu's it's pretty much the same, with high end gpu's fx can't keep up.

Why the hell do people benchmark in resolutions that no one uses?

I'm seeing GTX660s, 660 isn't enough to show the difference.

FX CPUs aren't that far removed from Pentium 4s. So I'm always surprised to see the odd benchmark that shows they can actually perform better than some cpus in the i5/i7 range (they can beat some of the earlier i5s, but not the newest ones). AMD really screwed up their FX line.

I was unable to get my Core 2 Duo E8500 @  4GHz to bottleneck a GTX 650 ti 2GB (slightly cut down GTX 660, and with a 250MHz OC on mine), so there is no way you can get a true indicator of an FX CPUs performance with them.

I know. I think tests like that are done by people unable to afford decent hardware, either that or AMD fanboys trying to put their CPUs in a good light.

You need a high end gpu to tell the difference.

 

With a mid-low end gpu you can say that an i3 is as good as an i5 4670k!

I don't really trust Austin's reviews after watching a few of them, and especially when he uses low end hardware for his benchmarks (that video clearly shows the graphics card at its limits). Now if it was a real graphics card like a 690, 780/ti and a 970 then things would be different. (AMD R9 290X as well I suppose).

If people think the cpus are the same you should check this review from anadatech where they use multi gpus and high end gpus to test the cpu.
