I am thinking of the WD black squared, also is a 5400 RPM drive really quiet and how slow are they, it needs to be in the 2.5IN form factor, any suggestions (no height limitations) ?

What is this for? Desktop/Laptop? Games/media/files?

2.5inch drives are going to be painfully slow, unless you do get one of the hybrid blacksquared drives which I haven't heard any complaints about, you just need to be aware of how they work with the operating system, creating two partitions etc...

For speed otherwise, there are very few rare and expensive 7200rpm drives in that size.

Is this in a small form factor computer? Sure there's no 3.5inch bays free?

Hi there @Nate E!

The Black Square drive will do a nice job for you in my opinion, because it has a SSD partition where you can install your programs and games, and use the HDD partition for storage purposes. I personally have one and can say that they're quiet and I never had any problems with the loading times.

Cheers! :)
