Cannot get system to post

Go to solution Solved by MrSz727,

You Guys were awesome but I'm stupid turns out one of the power connectors wasn't plugged in correctly X_X

Hi guys,

Today i got some new PC Parts to build my first system. however, i didn't manage to get far before running into my first problem, I built the pc out of the case to check if it posts. CPU, RAM, Cooler and Video card are connected but when i powered it up i couldn't get an output signal on to my screen. Keep in mind I'm using an HDMI cable which is connected to a 32" TV.  i tried multiple HDMI Cables with no luck. Any suggestions ?

PC parts:

Asus ROG Rampage V

Intel Core i7 5820k

2x MSI GTX 970

16 GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance @2800 mhz

Take out your RAM. Now test each stick individually.

5820s don't have GPUs so it would have to go into the card.

Yes Sir

Clear the CMOS battery for good measure first, plug the GPU in and THEN plug the PSU into everything. Try that.

How old is your TV? If it is a more recent one (last 3 years or so), then it should have a dedicated HDMI port labelled as "HDMI/DVI". This particular HDMI port is just for picture only, and is the recommended one to use for attaching a PC to a tv in most cases. next in line is a normal HDMI port, then is a normal DVI socket, and then finally there is VGA. If you have either a normal DVI or VGA socket on your particular tv set, then try that. Regardless though, the pc should post over HDMI.

Edit: I just want to make it clear, I am using HDMI from my PC to my TV; and I use the "HDMI/DVI" port on my tv, with a 3.5m audio pass through cable from my PC to my TV's PC audio input socket. If you use a normal HDMI port on your tv, then you should get the sound through the HDMI from the GTX970.

could it be possible that HDMI is not supported without an OS installed first ?

HDMI is supported regardless if there is an OS or drivers present.
