So, a friend of mine asked me to build a pc for him but he has a very small buget

he would also like to game on it but he doesn't play the newest games. probably some cs go, lol, etc

His buget is somewhere around $300 but because I'm buying from an romanian online store the prices won't match with the ones from pcpartpicker

Firstly, I thought of making a intel build with the g3258 processor, 4gb of ram, 1tb hdd(it's about the same price as a 500 or 250gb hdd), 450w psu, cheapest case and spend all the money left on a gpu, but the only gpu's that I could afford are Hd6450 and gt610

Then I thought of making a apu build and after some time, if he would like to upgrade, he would just buy a decent gpu

This is the list that I made:

AMD A8-6600K

MSI A88XM-E35

Kingston HyperX Fury Black 4GB DDR3 1866 MHz CL10

WD Caviar Blue 1TB SATA3 64MB

Floston ATX 450W

-Some cheap case-

In the end, both systems cost about the same ammount but which one of them should I buy?

I'm thinking of going the amd side but I still don't know for sure

Also, if he would be able to spend more should I get a better apu like the AMD Kaveri A10-X4 7700K  or the AMD A10 6790K (which one of them is better? please tell me :D ) or should I pick the intel system and buy a better gpu like a R7 240 DDR5?

Thank you

What do you intend to use this computer for ?

any form factor or manufacture you prefer?

as I said, he is going to use it for light gaming

he doesn't care about the form factor nor the manufacturer

for $300 its debatable if its worth it for the performance you would get.. However.......

options:

get a PS4

build a cheap small form factor PC using used parts, or last gen older parts on sales.

look into donation parts, some people have lots of stuff just laying around. you might be able to offer shipping costs and a small fee.

open box components (cheaper) i got a half decent Asus H81i m/board for less than $60.

another question does this person need keyboard / mouse / monitor / O/S etc?

got to love Asus components

he needs a pc, not a console

he doesn't need any peripherials and open things like donation parts don't exist around where I live :D

well best bet is to look at sales and last gen hardware. some cases come with psu installed, and he might have to go with onboard graphics until they can afford a dedicated gpu at a later date.

$300 won't get much if they need more for work and a few games you can get refurbished laptops from amazon, i got one and its pretty good, but again not much of a gamer, but good for work and stuff.

for $500 you can build something. i don't want to recommend a $300 build then someone tells me its slow and crappy as it will be for $300.

Probably used parts are your best bet for $300

This is the system that I'm thinking of ordering

Nr. Produs Cant. Pret
1. Hard disk WD Blue 500GB SATA-III 7200 RPM 16MB            1 x 254,92
2. Sursa Floston FL450                                                               1 x 64,99
3. Procesor AMD Athlon X2 340 3.20GHz skt FM2 box              1 x 153,00
4. Memorie Crucial 4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL11 Single Ranked  1 x 192,38
5. Placa video MSI GeForce GT 720 1GB DDR5 64-bit              1 x 235,47
6. Placa de baza MSI A68HM-P33                                              1 x 214,94
7. Carcasa Floston Black - desigilat                                            1 x 83,25

I chose that gpu because it's the cheapest one with ddr5 memory. another option would be a hd6450 or a gt210 wich I think would perform worse than the gt 720

also, what do you think about the cpu? I think that it's 'good enough'

If you can get $100 to $150 more then you'll be able to build a gaming PC otherwise your going for one with not GPU and the parts will be outdated quick so he'll probaly just end up reusing his case if he upgrade

If you can do something like ShadowCaptain's he would be happy.  I tried, but the $299.99 build above me is well made.

I know that everyone is telling me that I should try different things but in the budget that he gave me and with the prices around here, that is the best I could make

the gtx 750ti costs about $170 here which would already be half his budget

the cheapest hard drive(500gb) costs about $80

the cheapest motherboard(1150/fm2) also costs around $60-$80

there must be hundreds of used computers for sale with last gen or even Z77 will still be way better than the extreemly low spec new parts.

you might be able to get 2 or 3 half decent computers and build one good one from it.

I would look into a Z77 or Z87 components which is still good and perfect working order. it would give you enough performance for average frame rates.

got to love Asus components
