You can try, but if it doesn't work then you'll either have to buy a new copy or go down the "Illegal" route and crack windows.

If it's the same edition of Windows (i.e. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, must be the exact same) then it should work, although you may run into problems if you try to use both machines actively.

OEM key - flat answer NO

 

Retail key - Remove windows from laptop and unregister key, then reinstall

 

be careful to get the same version i.e. 64 bit, home preimium

How do I tell if I have an OEM Copy

use a product key finder like (https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/)

 

if it says product key - OEM-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (or something like that) it is an oem copy

 

if it says XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX thwen you can uninstall and unregister

 

 

if you bought your laptop with windows pre installed then its likely a OEM copy
