So i've got a problem. And i've had it for a few months now on and off.

My internet speeds are alright when it actually tries to connect. But sometimes it needs a few tries before it even starts connecting.

4046847295.png

That's my speedtest. And that's pretty much what i'd expect for what i'm paying for. (Lol. Slower than 76% of sweden?)

The best way i could describe it is that it's almost as if i need to wake my internet connection up before it tries to connect.

I have to retry connecting to steam about 3-4 times before it finally barely connects. But after that it's fine.

I have disabled the power saving setting in my network adapter settings.
It's a wired connection with a new cable.

My Dell inspiron laptop has a good connection and the tv i get through my modem is running fine. (Apart from some very occational freezes)

I've done a complete system virus scan too. Nothing came up

Any thoughts on what this might be?

I would do the following:

Clear Internet Browser Cache

Clear Windows Temporary Files

Clear DNS Cache

Download the newest version of the NIC driver, then uninstall the NIC Driver completely, then install the downloaded copy of the driver.

So just to confirm, the internet works flawlessly on all your other devices, including another Windows based computer?

Yup. Still had these issues with my previous motherboard too. And that had an intel lan port..

When was the last time you performed a fresh install of Windows?

Also, with your laptop, can you disable the Wireless, connect the LAN cable from your PC to the laptop, reboot the laptop, and then check to see if it exhibits the same symptoms?

I'll check with the laptop.

Last fresh install was about two months ago.

Okay so at this point I would say it's either:

1. A software issue - eg: Windows is corrupt (Network Stack or something similar), or the driver itself is corrupt.

2. A Hardware issue - eg: The NIC is bad.

Did this happen before you performed the latest fresh install of Windows?

Yeah it was like this before too :/ And with another motherboard with a different lan port (Intel. The current one is a realtek affair)

I guess i'll just tough it out until they turn on the fiber internet in my apartment and if that doesn't help i'll try windows 8

The odd thing is that it works just fine on linux..

Have you tried other ports on the Router?

It sounds like it could almost be an environmental factor (too much EMI messing up the signal in the cable or something).

I have tried other ports. And i have moved my desk a few times.

Don't know if it's emi. Since the cable is a brand new cat6.

It just feels like there is some power saving setting that's still messing with my pc

Could be, but a fresh install of Windows should take care of that. What you're experiencing is not normal behaviour.

Do you have Antivirus installed? If so, which one?

You're on Windows 7?

Try uninstalling AVG and see if the issue persists.

Man you must be unlucky. The P8Z77-V should be 100% Windows 8 compatible. Did you try an 8.1 ISO instead of vanilla 8?

Tried both. Multiple times. And updated the bios :/ Still refused to work properly with driver crashes and all that good stuff.
