HDD help !

TheDj408
Go to solution Solved by DIV1D3,

I do heavy video editing ! With Sony vegas as of now ! With photoshop ! Still WD blue is fine ?

I'd think that there would be no noticeable difference between the Blue and Black while video editing, but I have next to zero knowledge when it comes to the needs of editing programs in relation to hard drives.

Which factors to look for a internal HDD ?

What are good measures of spin speed ?

And what else should be taken in consideration ?

Any external links would be appreciated :)

BTW I'm planning for WD black !

BTW I'm planning for WD black !

RPM (Like 90% of the drives have 7200 RPM).

Other than that not a whole lot to look at ..

I would look at some reviews of the drives as well.

I believe a WD Black is a very good drive (WD makes some quality stuff anyways)

Pretty much just the amount of storage is only really needed to be taken into account.

For standard use a WD Blue or Seagate Barracuda will suite quite well, and are very nicely priced.

You'll pretty much only find 7,200 RPM drives, unless you're looking at 2.5' drives.

Personally, I'd get the cheapest out of the Barracuda and Blue.

No problem man, I'm fairly certain that a WD Black will have quite a small impact in video editing over a Blue or Barracuda.

If the price difference is not too much then I'll go for WD black :)

Alrighty then, to me the extra $25 (AUD) isn't worth it, but if the Black does happen to be on sale while you are purchasing the parts than I guess it won't be as a big of deal.
