Depends on the game, but the i7-5820K seems to be the best overall, with the i5-4690K as the best value for high-end gaming. In general the i5 is enough to handle any modern game on max settings, your graphics card will be the limiting factor in most situations.

i5's are somewhat the best gaming CPUs out there, but doesn't mean it's the best for everything; the i5 just so happens to be everything modern games need, or want, so an i5 + A high end card rock socks for gaming.

Best for the money : i5-4460

Best for the money if you can afford it: i5-4690K

Best overall if you have enough to buy it without cheaping out on the GPU or other critical components of your build : i7-4790K.
