Asus Fan Xpert is hardware-level fan control that only comes with Asus products.

And is only available with asus bords. 

 

Edit: And the compatible with other bords is unknown or really bad.

Does the mobo need to be asus or it can be any board ?

Use Speead fan, it has more options and better control, i have an asus board and the fan xpert is nice for very simple use and i found speedfan so much more useful.

if your board can use a program like for ASUS fan xpert or the MSI or gigabyte equivalent then speed fan should work.

if it doesnt, then a drive bay fan controller is your next option
