I recently made an upgrade from windows 7 to 8.1. I made a backup of the files i had in windows 7 and I wanna restore it on my new platform (Can anyone tell me how at the same time)? Should i restore? I am worried about compatibility issues of 7 and 8.1....

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

do you see this option?

To restore your files or folders
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Search (or if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search), enter restore your files in the search box, and then tap or click Restore your files with File History.

  2. Enter the name of file you're looking for in the search box, or use the left and right arrows to browse through different versions of your folders and files.

  3. Select what you want to restore to its original location, and then tap or click the Restore button.

    If you want to restore your files to a different location than the original, press and hold or right-click the Restore button, tap or click Restore To, and then choose a new location.

ok try this

https://www.winhelp.us/file-history-in-windows-8.html

at the file history window

the left will have one option call "Restore Personal files"

@dragoon20005

now I am attempting to manually unzip all files and just opening it from there xD

It seems like there is no way to restore previously backed up files from 7 to 8,1

First off, if you backed up files in 7, you need 7 to retrieve them. Would have been easier to make a copy of those files.

Second, whoever keeps pointing out file history/image: it only works for windows 8 (vhd vs vhdx formats, and the latter is a b@$!# to mount and unpack without using win8 itself)
