I just received a new SSD and I am trying to do a fresh install of windows 7 on it. I have it on a USB and it boots to it, but it keeps stopping and says "drive device driver is missing". Anyone know how to get around/fix this? I am installing it on a Crucial M500. I downloaded the ISO through dream spark and have a key so I know the file is valid, I just don't know what is going wrong.

maybe go to your mobo BIOS and check if the SSD is detected or not

make sure AHCI mode is enabled

even during normal OS building, Windows will load the standard drive driver to make the HDD or SSD to work

Turns out it was because the USB was in a 3.0 slot, I moved it to a 2.0 and everything seems to be working. I will make another update whenever it finishes or if it fails.

That would do it.
