Stupid question, but I'm curious

DevilsViolinist

I'm not going to do this simply because it is a waste of money, but if I have my home server set up and I plug in a usb external hard drive or an external thunderbolt drive, would I be able to access the files on the external hard drive through the server? Stupid question, but someone told me it would work but I have my suspicions.

I dont see why it wouldn't. It should be a viewable drive, just as when you plug it into your PC.

Yes. That is the whole point of those "My Cloud" externals. They are shared storage for a network.

Hi there @DevilsViolinist!

I agree with the others and I think it's possible to do so. For instance, one option is to connect and map your external hard drive to your network for easy access.

Cheers! :)
