So, when playing bf4 sometimes my gtx 970 starts to thermal throttle at 50°C. It downclocks itself to 899 mhz, this happens at least a few times a day and it takes no longer than 15 seconds. I have no idea why this is happening, I've overclocked it but that overclock was running stable for the past 2 months so I don't think that that is the problem.

All help is appreciated.

PS: sorry for my english

Thanks for the reply but my templimit is already maxed out, and I want to keep the semi-passive design at idle of the gpu, but I will adjust the fancurve to make the fans start to spin from like 30°C or so. I hope it will help. Thanks!

reinstall the driver and see if that helps

if nothing works, RMA the GPU

What happens when you are running a PhysX intensive benchmark?

So the problem is back and I ran some fluidmark for the physx, it runs fine at the 1080 preset (55-60fps). It only crashes when I bump up the particles to 270000 at 1080p. Is that good or should I be worried?

I had the same problem... I an issue with the Physx engine I did a clean install of the drivers. But this time clear the drivers first using DDU (available at http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU) while in safemode and then do a Custom re-installation (not Express) and deselect all but the main display driver and check "Perform Clean Install." This worked for me and everything works perfectly now. Hope it helps.
