I host my operating system on a 120GB solid state drive partitioned into C:/System Files & D:/Documents And Settings and archive all my personal files on a 2TB internal hard disk drive labeled E:/Personal Files with three synchronized backup drives labeled F:Internal Backup, G:/External Backup, Z:/Online Back (Nas) and want to know if I should use full disk encryption and how it will affect access and performance once encrypted.

Will encrypting my SSD & all my HDD affect synchronizing data between drives? I use file synchronization software to manually synchronize my hard disk drives.. I also need to know if it'll impact other stuff like remote access (streaming or downloading from Nas).. Disk Imagining encrypted SSD once I've obtained a desired configured environment and boot restore software so changes are discarded between reboots?

Ideally I'd liked to encrypt entire system and if possible switch between encrypted & unencrypted states as I'll most likely only benefit from it whilst leaving storage devices unattended for long extended periods of time for instance if I go away.. just to clarify mass bulk of my stored data is media entertainment and only small percent is personal data such as documents, pictures, and videos etc. but encryption is really just to make use of it and peace of mind my data is secured and if I need to RMA or discard a failed disk drive then I don't have to worry about my personal files but it's generally just to make use of it.. I guess it's unlikely to be able to switch between encrypted & unencrypted states because it would take hours to decrypt the drive or can I just disable it somehow so I'm able to regain performance?

I can't use Bitlocker because I don't have trusted platform module so likely use Veracrypt which is folked version of Truecrypt

Unless you're trying to hide something that would send you to prison why do you want to encrypt data? Just use a normal password.

It's also a 0 in a 999,999,999,999,999,999,999 chance that someone will actually access your data

I have up to 10Terabytes of storage capacity and value my privacy.. if encryption is a seamless option to protect personal data then I prefer to make use of it.. I have nothing sinister to hide but personal computers are just that they're personal and can be very revealing.. I rely on my computer for everything and want to step up security because I don't rely on anti virus but alternative methods for managing and securing data such as disk imagining, boot restore, file synchronization, password manager, and some inspection tools like process hacker and network monitoring tools etc. besides you claim 0 chance someone will actually access my data I have accessed plenty of my relatives and friends data and found out personal and private revealing stuff that would probably cause them a little embarrassment.. we're naturally curious and it's just piece of mind..
