I am about to enter my second semester of college and after borrowing my girlfriends laptop to use during class, I can definitely see why is it so nice to have one. All I need really is note taking and very minor gaming. I also signed up for a class on edx.org for an introduction to programming so a Windows computer would be best. Since it is for school, small, light and a great battery life before anything else.

I am thinking about this one here. (The 10 inch Windows version) it comes with the Bluetooth keyboard as well.

Any thoughts?

i think you should buy a cheap notebook, i assume you are going to walk with computer often and it will be quite exposed and failure at some point.

I would have it in my back back while on the go. Just gonna take it out when I get to class and get home and stuff.

I figured even MC level gaming. Most people won't assume Windows games (side note, why the hell would you play Windows games? :P) if you say "minor gaming" on a computer running full Windows.

Well, Pacman Championship DX Edition lol. I have it on my phone and that's what I play lol. I do have MineCraft but I just forgot about it. Can't stand doing the same thing over and over again.

I'd recommend a used Lenovo Thinkpad. There should be stores that offer some sort of warranty on their used laptops. Get a new battery (extended if possible) and a SSD drive. The thinkpads do not look appealing but are really solid. It will not be new and shiny but it seems like you want to do some real work ;)

Plus there is other stuff like UMTS modems and docking stations. Plus you will be most likely having a matte display (that is 4:3 buuuuuut you should be working not watching movies!)
