Icons randomly go away

I've noticed that sometimes, icons just randomly go away. Like right now, HWMonitor and MSI AfterBurner both look like this. 05c756afd2.jpg Do you guys have any ideas on how to fix this? Reboots don't seem to work. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64, and (since this might make a difference, since all the programs that do this seem to need admin rights) UAC is turned on and is at the default setting.

have you tried right clicking on your desktop and hitting refresh

Try turning UAC for a few days, that might be the cause. Might just MIGHT be your HDD/SSD failing. Not a huge chance, but run a SMART test just to make sure. Than if you have CCleaner available to you, run the cleaner, and the registry repair tools a few times. Try running malewarebytes. Probably not a virus but running a scan won't hurt.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

ive seen this happen after changing the name of the icon

the only way to fix it afaik is to reinstall or update the program so it gets the icon back...

 

i just downloaded rainmeter so now i dont need to deal with these issues and the ugly windows icons :)

That refreshes the desktop... Not the taskbar... ;)

I've installed and uninstalled and all that crap enough times to drive someone nuts.

That happens to Nvidia Shadowplay for me. I usually just have to remove the icon and re-add it and it goes back to normal.

Didn't work for me, sadly.
