Any other approved spray paint brands that is A-OK to use for painting cases/nonmechanical parts? I'm not sure if any local places around here have plastidip

You can get plastidip in spray cans and do it yourself.

IMO, Plastidip is not really good for painting anything...here is the procedure i follow:

  1. Scuff up/sand existing area if already painted or if raw metal, prep and apply chemical conversion coating
  2. Rinse with water and dry completely with clean, dry cloth
  3. Apply 1-2 coats of self-etching (if you didnt prep/chem convert before), epoxy-based or regular spray primer (automotive brands usually work best)
  4. Apply 2-4 coats of enamel or epoxy based spray paint, sanding (with 400-800 grit sandpaper) and wiping in between coats.

In terms of brands, there are several good ones out there:

  • Rust-Oleum
  • Dupli-Color
  • VHT Paints
  • Krylon
  • 3M

What hardware/big box stores do you have around you? I can point you to what good brands are at what store.
