I am trying to build an AMD setup that is good for video/picture editing and gaming. I currently have selected the AMD fx 8350 and the MSI gtx 970. I believe these are the best choices that I have right now, so I would like to keep them. However, I am on a budget of $900-950. If you could help with the rest of the build, that would be wonderful. Thank You.

The 8350 is just an overclocked 8320.

I chose the 8350 as you wanted, but the 8320 is the better bang for the buck, as you can just turn the multiplier up to get the same performance.

Oh, I got confused when he/she said "get one from skullbringer" thought it was a company/store.

I understand the desire for better multi threaded performance, but with your budget you can afford a Xeon E3 1231 V3 cpu which has better multi threaded performance than the FX-8350 and has way better single threaded performance so its better for gaming. If this wasnt a gaming rig as well then the FX cpu would suffice, but if you can get the best of everything, why not? The R9 290 can still handle every game at max settings at 1080p (provided its not poorly coded and buggy recently released UBIshit), but if you want you can drop the SSD and R9 290 for a GTX 970. Your choice.

Oh! And if you do get an FX 8 core CPU, you have to get a motherboard with sufficient power delivery. The D3SP will not do. It will either throttle or overheat and eventually die when under heavy loads. The cheapest MoBo sufficient for FX-8 core CPUs is the Gigabyte GA970A-UD3P.

I was going to go with the MSI 970 gaming if that would work

edit: nvm, looks good.

That being said, why not go for the Xeon build I posted? It performs better on all counts and is at the lower end of your budget.
