When to upgrade?

Go to solution Solved by jam1234,

How is it for you then?

I would upgrade when I can't get 60fps on the games that I am playing on medium settings. But I as it stands at the moment I won't upgrade my i5 4670k or my GTX 780 for at least 4 years :)

When is the time to upgrade?

I would think after ca 3 years.

I will only play on a single 1080p monitor for a while and I currently have fx 6300 and 280x.

I play All kinds of games ..

ALL KINDS!

But currently I am playing League of legends and far cry 3, after that.

Perhaps hitman absolution. Or focus more on Payday 2

Edit: I have had my computer for ca 2-4 month so I will not be able to upgrade any time soon.

It is very hard to tell, you could probably last 3 years but may have to turn settings down near the end. Basically leave it as long as your fps is still bearable.

Upgrade when you need to.

But how do I know when I need to?

I am not especially picky, but playing on ultra feels pretty nice after playing on laptops without a dedicated gpu for a while.

An indication you need an upgrade would be when you are no longer satisfied with your performance.

Upgrade when you need more performance, like if you are trying to play a new game, but your system is struggling to play it.

I suppose it will take a while then. I don't play a whole lot of demanding games.
