Hi everyone!

The time has come in which i will build a new system!

by the time has come. i simply mean... i have money and want a new computer! :D

seeing as i have no hobbies other than computers. it seems only fitting that its where most of my money goes.

All that said.

I've decided that i want to use a Corsair 900D and 2011 Socket. These are non negotiable!!!!!!

I do eventually want to water cool This.

I have HDDs that i can use. so I don't need those! (although a 960GB SSD is looking pretty nice atm XD)

I don't know what colour scheme i want. however i think that letting any Lighting/Water cooling components/ Cable Sleeves bring character seems like a good idea.

So far. i was thinking of having all grey components so that it looks nice and uniform. It is also the easiest to find IMO.

However I am having troubles selecting Components. :/

I was thinking maybe:

Corsair 900D

3930k

2 Titans? (why not? XD)

Dominator Platinum Ram 16GB 1866

PSU - ?

Motherboard - ?

1. Budget & Location

Too Much! ($4k+ i dont know yet)

Australia!

2. Aim

This system will be used for a multitude of things.

But for the most part, its a 'because i can'.

3. Monitors

Right now i have 2 1080p monitors. i dont need any now. but in the future i think i will invest in a 1440p IPS. just because :)

However thats just thoughts at this point.

4. Peripherals

My Current Peripherals are decent and do not need an upgrade at this moment.

so we can leave this out.

5. Why are you upgrading?

BECAUSE I CAN!!!!!

If you are still here. please don't try and persuade me off 2011! many have tried and this isn't about saving money here!

2 Titans? (why not? XD)   Dominator Platinum Ram 16GB 1866

Only things i have a problem with. get 2 or 3 780s and OC them. and get something other than dominator platinums, you can get more and faster ram for the price of them. i understand you want a "Because i can" Build but still be logical in your part choices.

PSU: Antec or silverstone as much as 1000w

Mobo: Anyone really. But Gigabyte maybe? they have a grey board.

yes yes. but 4-5k is about as far as 'why not' can take me. 2.7billion dollars isnt exactly something i can afford!!!

tbh i really like the look of platinums! i know i can get faster ramm cheaper or the same price, but platinums are just so sexy :3

imo its not worth it, you can get ram that imo is just as good looking if not better but not my build so do what ever you want.

2x Titans is waste of money, get 2x 780s. The processor wait for Ivy Bridge-E, they are coming at September.

For X79 mobo, i would recommend the Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 or UD5, MSI Big Bang - Xpower II, or AsRock Extreme 6 or 9, and Asus Sabertooth X79.

The IV Extreme, just like Linus said, it's a motherboard, nothing special. So waste of money again.

GA-X79-UP4 would look much better with Dom platinums and the Titan cooler.  Get a SeaSonic SS-860XP which would also fit in with that nicely.

And yeah get GTX 780s, it's basically the same thing.  I know Titans "because you can" but seriously if you aren't using the extra VRAM they are the same thing.  I don't think an extra $1K there to have "Titan" printed on the underside of the card would be a good idea.
