So, a while ago my toshiba got trashed after giving it to my sister. She owned it for a year and gave it utter hell. Quite literally, the screen has been torn from it's hinges. and is only working due to the fact i'm leaning it against a wall. The entire screen assembly (minus the hinges) has fallen apart due to the utter shit plastic toshiba used in it's laptop case assembly. The threads for the screws were drilled in less than 1/50th of a centimeter thick plastic and tore right out when my sis was using it. But upon further inspection, the board is in fantastic shape and is made with nothing but good ol' fashioned japanese capacitors which surprised me. Speakers still sound great. Everything works great, but the screen is just fallen apart. I'm typing to you now on it and it hasn't missed a beat. It's running Xubuntu 14.10 64-bit.

Specs:

Core 2 Duo T6400 (really quick for what it is) 2.0ghz
4GB DDR2-800
320GB HDD

I may set this up as a clunker to fuck around with every now and then. But so far, it's running like a dream. I don't have a working cam at the moment, but I'll have some pics uploaded of it soon. I'm tempted, should I sell it or repair it? I've tried repairing and it didn't want to work, and I need to but an entirely new screen assembly (minus the panel, webcam, and wifi antennas) which rings up about $35.

Also, holy wifi range. I am still getting full connection from really frickin far away from my router.

Idk if replacing the screen would be worth your trouble. My sis recently trashed her laptop screen so Im just gonna gut it and hook it up to an external display so i can get it running as a small server.

I'm tempted to do that. Someone at my local computer hardware course was interested in this without the screen, so I may just give it to him. But I love the thing. It's my own little special snowflake

Remove the screen and the cover that holds it. Get a cheap 720p monitor, connect it and use it as a keyboard/computer combo :P

SO TEMPTING but I don't have room for it unfortunately. This T6400 kicks pretty hard considering it's age. It feels like it hasn't aged a day in all honesty (look at sig)
